Bharatpur Wildlife Vacations

Bharatpur is the venue of the world-renowned Keoladeo Ghana National Park, also known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. This wildlife reserve lies between the most historic cities of Agra and Jaipur. This north Indian sanctuary is situated in the country's northwestern state of Rajasthan, about 190 km from Delhi.

Bharatpur Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a variety of bird species, there are about 380 species of birds found in this 29 sq km stretch. Rest of the area comprises of scrublands, grasslands and more than 44,000 trees that are used for nesting by birds each year.

Accommodation

You can take a break from your tiring tour and relax yourself at the Bharatpur Forest Lodge, situated within the Bharatpur Sanctuary. The lodge offers 18 double rooms out of which 10 are air-conditioned and 8 are non air-conditioned. Birder's Inn is another lodge located near the entrance of the Keoladeo National Park. Getting There

By Road: Bharatpur is on the Agra-Jaipur highway, just a two-hour journey by bus from Agra (55 km) and an hour from Fatehpur Sikri.

By Rail: The nearest rail junction is Bharatpur, which is well connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and many other parts of India. Palace on Wheels - the royal Indian train also include Bharatpur in its itinerary.

By Air: Nearest domestic airport is Agra from where one can get flights to other parts of the country. New Delhi is the nearest international airport with flights to places all around the world.
