Location of Udaipur: Udaipur is located southwest of Jaipur near the border with Gujarat state. It is at the southern end of the Aravalli Range.

Best Time to Visit Udaipur: The best time to visit Udaipur is during the winter months from September to March. Winter months are pleasant enough for long stays. The summer months are best avoided for visiting Udaipur.

How to reach

By Air: Dabok Airport is 24 km. from Udaipur city. Linked by daily Air Service from New Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Mumbai.

By Train: Udaipur is connected to and from Chittrogarh, Ajmer, Jaipur and Delhi.

By Bus: Udaipur boasts a wide network of bus services which link Udaipur with various destinations like Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Chittrogarh, Kota, Indore, Mount Abu and Mumbai.

Tourist attractions: Among the main tourist attractions are places like City Palace, a majestic architectural marvel towering over the lake on a hill surrounded by crenellated walls, it is a conglomeration of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens. The City Palace of Udaipur is a must-see during vacations in Udaipur.

Pichola Lake, the picturesque lake that entranced Maharaja Udai Singh and inspired him to build Udaipur. Hills, palaces, temples, bathing Ghats and embankments, surround the lake. Two island palaces, Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) on the lake are of breathtaking magnificence. Pratap Memorial, atop the Moti Magri or pearl hill, overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake is the memorial of the Rajput hero Maharana Pratap with a bronze statue of the Maharana.Fateh Sagar, a beautiful lake, overlooked by a number of hills on the three sides and Maharana Fateh Singh built the Pratap Memorial on the north. In the middle of the lake is Nehru Park - a lovely garden island with a boat shaped café accessible by an enjoyable boat ride.

Jagdish Temple, built in 1651 A.D. by Maharana Jagat Singh, this Indo-Aryan temple is the largest and the most beautiful temple of Udaipur with noteworthy sculpted images. Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandir, the interesting collection exhibited by this Indian folk arts museum includes folk dresses, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, folk deities and paintings.
